Getting Here
Taxi, Limo, and Shuttle Services
Unless money is no option, the hotel offers free or more attractive service, or you are renting a car, Blissport recommends booking a shuttle service, starting at just $25.00 round trip for your transportation from and back to the San Jose Del Cabo airport. Without an advance plan, getting from the San Jose Del Cabo airport to your destination can be a hassle. Los Cabos is filled with timeshare salesmen offering information and services, including "free taxis." Just say, "no gracias" and move on. For this reason and also because new government regulations require information of arrivals and departures 48 hours prior to date of service, many Cabo airport shuttle services can only take reservations made at least 48 hours prior to the date of service, so it's best to arrange your airport shuttle transfer in advance. When you make your advance reservation, you'll be issued a voucher that you must have with you. Vouchers are issued for each reservation, and will be mailed, faxed or e-mailed to you prior to your departure. Service will be provided ONLY to the number of passengers specified in the voucher. No other document will be accepted for the service to be rendered, though it doesn't hurt to have your receipt on hand as well. Airport shuttle operators will meet you upon arrival at curbside holding a sign with your name. If you made a round trip booking, you'll be issued an additional voucher for your return trip. Confirm your return trip to the airport (at the end of your honeymoon) with the driver. The shuttle will meet you at your hotel or resort give or take 10-20 minutes so plan to leave 2.5 to 3 hours before your scheduled departing flight time and prepare to kill some time at the airport if things go smoothly. You can book your airport shuttle with your Blissport Concierge online or by phone when you book your hotel. Blissport uses Transcabo in Los Cabos for reliability, accountability and great rates. If you really want to go all out for your Los Cabos honeymoon, airport transportation is $240.00 USD roundtrip in a Hummer H2 or Land Rover. Call your Blissport concierge for details. Cabo taxis are among the most expensive in all of Mexico. You can expect to pay around $75 USD for a cab into central Cabo, 45 minutes away from the airport and there seems to be little break for closer destinations. It is not customary to tip taxi drivers unless the help you with your bags or go through some extra effort to help you. If there are a lot of things you want to see and do outside of the resort, you may want to rent a car or plan to spend a fair amount on taxi services throughout your honeymoon vacation.

Rental Cars
If you want to rent a car, you can easily do so at the airport, but it is best to reserve from the US for better rates. Most major rental car agencies have presence at the airport. You can book your rental car in advance with Alamo online or by phone through your Blissport Concierge when you book your hotel. We have also had excellent luck renting from Avis in Mexico. Finally, in many cases you can rent a car locally through your hotel.
There are five car rental companies very close to the airport and several more just a shuttle ride away. Advantage, Thrifty and Budget are located across from Terminal 1. Dollar and National are on the entrance road less than a mile away. Alamo, Hertz and Avis are located on Hwy 1. You can book an Alamo rental car when you book your hotel with your Blissport Concierge.
Renting a car in Mexico tips: 1 - When you reserve a car, be sure to ask about cancellation penalties, taxes and surcharges; 2 - Your own driver's license is acceptable; you do not need to get an international license; 3 - Take the extra insurance despite the extra cost and no matter what your insurance company or credit card company may say that they cover in Mexico. Regardless of any coverage that your credit card company may offer, make sure you have Mexican auto liability insurance through the rental car company. It is illegal to drive without it in Mexico.
